Grant B. Schmalgemeier
1921-1992
Chicago TI Users Group
An enthusiastic supporter of the CTIUG and the Faire, so much so that they named an award after him to honor CTIUG members for their service to the group and TI community. A retired paper cutter, Grant was an extraordinary collector who amassed and catalogued more than 20,000 items on the 1933-34 Century of Progress Exposition. In addition, he collected thousands of postcards, streetcar tokens and books on transportation and on Chicago history.
Henry "Hank" Ellermann
1919-1995
Chicago TI Users Group
A Past President of the Chicago TI Users Group, running the Chicago Connection BBS for many years. Hank hosted after meeting get togethers in his basement. Many hardware and software ideas were inspired at those meetings. Passed away tragically in a car accident.
John Birdwell
1949-1990
Chicago TI Users Group
Programmer of numerous and popular Utility Programs for the TI. John was an outstanding asset to the Chicago User Group and the TI community as a whole. The famous John Birdwell Award was named after him and is awarded to members who demonstrate overwhelming dedication to the TI community. Sadly, John passed away at the young age of 41 due to cancer.
